Why Join

“I wanted to become a Freemason to meet a cross section of people, make long lasting friendships and have fun!”

Salem Lodge is a very happy Lodge with members from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups. We try and enjoy all aspects of our Masonry and have a lively social programme were we involve our ladies, families and non-masons.

Freemasonry provides a unique environment for people from all backgrounds to learn skills, make lasting friendships, achieve their potential and, above all, have fun.  What is more, the organisation provides a valuable forum for discussion between members in an open environment, helping to build trust.

Freemasonry is more relevant and important to society today than ever, as it encompasses and embraces all the fundamental principles of good citizenship. Many of these are learnt through traditional rituals that take the form of one-act plays, leading to increased self-esteem and confidence.
Every Freemason embarks on his own journey of self-discovery when he enters the organisation.

How to Join

Freemasonry does not discriminate on grounds of race, colour, religion, political views or social standing.
If you already know a member of the Lodge, please talk to him. He is encouraged to be open about Freemasonry and his membership and will be delighted to explain about our Lodge and why he enjoys his Freemasonry so much.
If you do not already know members please complete the Join Us form and someone will be back to you shortly.

Cost of Membership

The costs of membership are an initial Joining Fee of approx. £100 and an annual membership subscription which, at the moment, is below £100 p.a. Dining costs are very reasonable at less than £15.00 per meal. Members are expected to donate to charity, but this is only what the individual member can afford, there are no fixed amounts and most funds are raised through in Lodge raffles.
